I am mainly going to be using Christianity in my examples since I really can't speak for any other Religion or how they really work when compared to my own.
The way I see it when it comes to the rules it's like a Term of Service Agreement. You read it (Stop laughing some people really do) and if you choose to click on 'I agree' then you agree to abide by all the rules set forth by Christianity (And that's not even getting into how it's not crystal clear anymore with all the sub-divisions).
Unfortunately, just like with real Term of Service Agreements, not everyone actually reads them when they click on 'I agree'. But even so the fault lies to you. Many Christians will pick and choose what they believe but you can't do that, just like on a forum like this one you can't pick and choose the rules you want to follow. You either follow them all or you pay the price for violating one of the rules.
Yes I Just compared Christianity to forums. It's possible.
If you choose to click on 'I disagree' then you're neither bounded nor should you be expected to abide by any of the rules that come with Christianity. Sadly many Christians do not share this idea.
But in truth you're not bounded because you never agreed to their rules in the first place. This is why I don't bother Atheists for breaking any rules that comes with the Religion I choose to follow. I may not condone the action but it's not like their doing it is going to force me into it so I go on about my business as I would any other day.
Naturally if they did agree to abide to the same rules as myself I would take issue with it.
But really if they're not it'd be like the owner of ProBoards yelling at another message board not made on ProBoards for not following the PBS TOS. It wouldn't make any sense.
Discuss.
